“Our company may be a century old, but we have never felt more excited about our future,” United Country Real Estate President Mike Duffy said.
This may seem like a bold statement for a business founded in 1925, but when your mission is rooted in helping Americans buy and sell land, it’s easy to see why the future is so promising.
In 2025, UCRE is made up of nearly 500 offices and 4,000 agents, continuing their mission of stewardship for those who make a living off the land or seek the self-determination that country living can offer.
Built for the Back Roads
How does a rural real estate company make it to 100 years? It’s a milestone that fewer than 1% of all companies achieve. For that, we have Roscoe L. Chamberlain to thank. His marketing vision led to innovations that were decades ahead of their time — from launching America’s first national real estate catalog in 1928 to creating a call center and national buyer database in the 1970s.
These weren’t just clever ideas; they were foundational shifts that allowed United Country to connect more buyers to rural properties across the nation.
“Roscoe humbly started out solving a fundamental problem, which was how to expose rural real estate to people in the city,” United Country Real Estate CEO Dan Duffy said.
“His innovations were just the start of the incredible company United Country would become.”
As new members of the team came and times changed, Chamberlain’s legacy of cutting-edge marketing and rural expertise remained strong.
United Country went on to thrive during disruptive times, such as the Great Depression, world conflicts and the technological revolution.
“We’ll protect our core values of family, honesty and integrity, while empowering our amazing affiliates and keeping a constant eye on progress,” Dan said. “United Country Real Estate is a company fueled by a heart steeped in tradition and a mind focused on innovation.”
A Lasting Legacy: United in Service
Unlike urban and suburban-based real estate companies, UCRE was built from the ground up to serve rural America. This is backed up by some of the leading experts in niche lifestyle fields, such as Montana cattle ranching, income-producing poultry farms in the South, foresters in the Pacific Northwest and so much more.
It’s that expertise built from a lifetime of hands-on experiences and a commitment to honesty and integrity that Mike Duffy credits with United Country’s lasting legacy.
“First and foremost are the people. There are thousands of passionate people, including our brokers, agents, strategic partners and employees, all who embody a powerful family culture,” Mike said. “Our affiliates care about one another and about helping each other provide the best service to clients.”
A lot can change in 100 years. Technology advances, new trends arise, but United Country’s commitment to innovation in lifestyle and rural real estate has stayed the same.
“Our company may be a century old, but we have never felt more excited about our future. New platforms and technologies are helping us market more properties to buyers than ever before,” Mike said. “We’re driven to stay in front, to innovate and embrace change. It’s how we became a leader, and it will still pave our path for the next 100 years.”
